kdm-gdmcompat software package provides Provide basic gdm functionality to systems running kdm, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kdm-gdmcompat
kdm-gdmcompat is installed in your system.
Make ensure the kdm-gdmcompat package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep kdm-gdmcompat *
You will get with kdm-gdmcompat package name, version, architecture and description in a table
